Bora Bora VIP vs the regular area

The VIP area costs about $30 more and buys you quiet, more space and two extra lunch choices. Whether that is worth it depends on whether you came to rest or to dance.

Bora Bora Beach Club has two areas: the regular Club Area, where most day guests and the DJ are, and a VIP area that resellers describe as "a new area for our most exclusive clients".

Both share the same boat, the same pier charge and the same island. The difference is the atmosphere, the lunch menu and the price.

The quick answer

VIP is a separate, quieter area with five lunch choices instead of three, for about $30 more ($185.05 vs $155 on Travelocity). Guests report the music and party energy are in the regular area. Choose VIP for a calm day, a massage and space; choose regular to dance, celebrate and save money.

What is the difference between VIP and regular at Bora Bora?

VIP is a separate, quieter area with a bigger lunch menu; the regular Club Area is livelier and cheaper.

How much more does VIP cost?

About $30 per person: Travelocity lists the Club Area at $155 and the VIP area at $185.05.

The Viator listing starts from $143 for the regular area and its itinerary refers to guests who have upgraded to VIP; check the options shown for your date at checkout. On the three-island tour, VIP area access is a separate COP 100,000.

Is the VIP area quieter?

Yes. Guests report that you cannot really hear the music in VIP, and that the regular section is louder and more of a party.

One guest advises anyone who wants to party not to book VIP for exactly that reason; another felt VIP was not worth the money because the fun was in the regular area. If you want to rest, read and get a massage, that quiet is the point.

What lunch do you get in each area?

Three choices in the regular area (fish, chicken or vegetarian) and five in VIP.

The club does not publish the two extra VIP dishes. Extra food and drinks are paid separately in both areas.

Does VIP include the pier charge, towels or drinks?

Nothing published says so: the pier charge of about COP 40,300 applies to everyone, and towels and drinks are listed as extras.

Pack as you would for the regular area: towel, water shoes and pesos. See what to bring.

What about front-row beds?

Front-row beds are a separate extra in the regular area, charged on the day and subject to availability.

One solo guest paid the little extra for a front bed and felt it was worth it. Arriving early at the pier also helps: guests report the earlier you check in, the better your bed.

Who should choose the regular area?

Groups, birthday trips and anyone who came for the DJ and a dance.

Many reviews mention celebrations and the party energy of the main beach. If that is your plan, the regular area is cheaper and more fun.
